This is the first in a series of reviews of Belhaven ales that were purchased as part of a boxed set in a UK discount supermarket as discussed here.
Brewer describes as: “Complex Layered Polished”
Speyside Blonde Ale is a Light golden ale with a very short lived white head. It has medium to high carbonation once poured into a glass.
Clearly Belhaven are using a sweet hops with this ale. It has a very slight vanilla after tone that is overshadowed by the sweetness that lingers a little more than I would like. The bottle states that this is whisky barrel aged. I think this is a novelty ale rather than one you would target on off-licence shelves.
2.5/5 Hard to recomend but hard to condem.
