Bath Christmas Market

I was lucky enough to get the chance to leave the kids with Mr W-K and head off to Bath with a friend. We chose Bath for our trip as it has a well-established Christmas Market. As a popular tourist attraction it is busy, so expect crowds. However, I think that this increased the festive feeling, no one was pushy or rude. I would hesitate to take very small children during the busiest periods as they may feel a bit hemmed in. There are plenty of refreshment stands serving a range of foods and lots of mulled wine/cider. Using the card machines on the stalls proved to be a bit problematic so make sure you take some cash along with you.

Our visit was fantastic, there was lots of local produce to enjoy and nice gifts. Weirdly, I expected more Christmas tat but didn’t find that at all. It is worth taking a walk up to Penhaligon’s on New Bond Street even if it’s just to drool through the window. There is a great, well-stocked Lakeland store on the same street for all of the kitchen bits an overly-adventurous cook needs this festive season.

Three of the Best

Please remember that any company I advocate does not pay me in products, services, or discounts. I buy the things I like and give an honest review. These are, in my opinion, the best chalets at Bath this year.

The Dartmoor Shepherd

The Dartmoor Shepherd makes amazing household products and accessories using rare breed British sheep. I was tempted by the footstool on legs but couldn’t work out how to get it home on public transport! The handbag tassels are really lovely, something different from the leather ribbon type that everyone seems to be producing. Did I mention the dog? They have one of their sheepdogs on hand to charm your cash from you. Well worth a look for totally unique gifts.

Eggnogg

Eggnogg produce simply brilliant colouring products. They have a wide range of seasonal colouring items on sale in Bath, such as the tablecloth which transforms into a Christmas tree, which will keep my daughter busy enough to let me get some stuff done! They also stock other products such as dressing up costumes, bags, and placemats. These are manufactured in the UK.

Hive Originals Skincare

They have a delightful range of products and gifts produced from raw honey and beeswax. These make really nice presents and show some thought has gone into your gift giving. When we went to this stall Claire was on hand to help us and happily talked us through her range. The lip balms are particularly nice.
