This is a really simple sauce. Some of my brood dislike ‘bits’ in their pasta so I grate the onion and garlic to hide them. I like to use this over a whole wheat fusilli pasta as the twirls hold the sauce well. I serve it with a big bowl of salad.
Prep time: 5 minutes Cook time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 500g passata
- 2 cloves garlic
- ½ red onion
- ¼ tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- basil (optional)
Method:
Grate the garlic and onion.
Add everything to a pan and stir well.
Cook over a low heat for 30 minutes.
Stir in the basil if using.
