Seafarers – English Ale – Fullers 3.5/5

This is my second review of Fullers Ale made during a recent visit to the Hung, Drawn and Quartered pub by the Tower of London.  The first ale, Oliver’s Island (reviewed here) was not to my liking so I thought I’d move onto something a little more session related. The barman recommended Seafarers Ale.

Seafarers is a rebirth of an old recipe. This has been available for over 10 years but has been revamped as a sessional beer. Fullers has a close relationship with Seafarers UK charity and a donation from each pint goes to them.

This is a light ale. Light in colour and flavours with a short head that lingers.  There is a slight citrus taste followed by light crisp hops.

Upon first taste you know this is an ale that is designed for drinking. That may sound stupid at first but after the first sip you will want to take another and another and another. It tastes very refreshing and is a great all rounder for someone that likes ales but does not want anything overpowering. Exactly what a session drink should be.

This would be perfect over a sunny lunch or an evening with friends. It’s not a drink I’d buy for home but as a pub drink I’ll be returning.

Thanks to the Hung, Drawn and Quartered for introducing me to this great pint.
