Golden Crown Ale – Aldi – 1.5/5

Golden Crown is sold under the Harpers Brewing Co brand. It is part of a three part range brewed exclusively by Marstons for Aldi Supermarkets.

The others in the range are Wild Bills IPA and Amber Stone.

Golden Crown is a bitter/sweet tasting golden ale that does not come over as particularly well balanced in flavour. Unlike some beers that get better and balanced as your taste buds get used to it this stays sharp from initial taste to final sip.

The aroma is one that reminds me as little of old beer mats. Again not immediately recognised as pleasurable.

This is a passable drink only. It’s not one I would select again as something I wanted to drink. I’d likely turn one down if offered.

Aldi have better offerings.
