BREWDOG Punk IPA 4/5

Both MrsWK and MrWK are continually impressed by BREWDOG branded drinks. Each has a distinct taste whilst remaining similar in style. We recently reviewed the excellent alcohol free Nanny State and gave it a score of 5/5.  MrsWK has encouraged MrWK to buy a few of each  BREWDOG drink and review. Not that MrWK needs any encouragement.

PUNK IPA is a rich golden colour with a white lasting head. The drink has a nice, but not overpowering hoppy taste with a good balanced bitterness that follows. There is a tropical fruitiness about it. Not sure whether it’s melon or grapefruit but it’s enjoyable.  The small bitterness just makes you want to take another sip. So these bottles are soon empty.

There is plenty of flavour here. This is a drink that can be enjoyed sip by sip or gulp by gulp but remains balanced and not overpowering throughout.

So is Punk IPA any good? Without a doubt yes however there are some caveats. An internet search will show that there have been some unfavourable reviews on other websites. These seem to be relating to issues with inconsistencies in batches and older cans not tasting very good.  Based on the drink by date on the bottles MrWK drank, they seemed to be relatively fresh so I suspect that this is a drink that does not store well.

Due to this I’m reluctant to recommend storing this in your beer fridge and buy and you drink.

Unusually for a company they not only offer Punk IPA in a bottle and can but also in a self brewing kit. So lookout in coming months for a taste off between can, bottle and self brewed.
