Iron Maiden Trooper Ale – Robinsons (4/5)

The drink is co-developed by Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickson and Robinsons brewery. The drink itself is meant to be inspired by the song Trooper that was itself inspired by the Battle of the light brigade. Anyhow enough of that.

The drink itself reminds me a little of MrsWKs ginger house she creates with the kids each christmas. I think it’s that little treacle flavour on the back of the throat. The drink also has a little biscuit (possibly the treacle), caramel. It has a little bitterness as an aftertaste but this complements the beer nicely.

The beer is not very gassy but has enough to give it a head if you want one. This can easily be controlled on the poor so the size of the head is wholly dependant on the angle of the pour.

I can see this becoming one of MrWK’s go to ales when all I want is a nice medium tasting drink.
